My name is Susan Smith (opus# 1227407), I'm 43 years old and I live in North Carolina. I was primarily raised at the beach but after high school I moved around a bit until joining the military. I went into the Army, worked as a parachute rigger, and was a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. I completed my 4years, was honorably discharged, and now I'm a Veteran. I have 3 children, who I love and miss dearly. I am incarcerated due to multiple habitual DWI's. I finished the substance abuse program while here and have recently found out there was an error in my sentencing (Thank God) and I will be getting resentenced in the near future. Quite a bit of time will be cut from this original sentence. I used to be more of an extrovert, but I'm the complete opposite now. I enjoy learning new things, I'm very open minded, I enjoy nature, and have a new appreciation for life. I feel there is so much more out there for me to do in this world, and once given the chance I intend to make every second of my life count. I believe things happen in peoples lives and everyone handles things differently. Its no excuse by any means. Certain events can derail a persons judgement and decision making process, then before they know it, they've got themselves in a situation that's hard to get out of. I hope people can learn their self worth and give themselves another chance at life successfully.
